December 2025: Parvana

Congratulations to Parvana K., the Ottawa Township High School (OTHS) Educational Foundation Student of the Month for December.

After performing well in English 3 during her junior year at OTHS, Parvana accepted the challenge of AP English Literature & Composition her senior year and has excelled in this college-level course.

Although still learning the language, Parvana shows an excellent understanding of the conventions of spoken and written English - a testament to her work ethic and her dedication to studies.

Parvana has established herself as a quiet leader among her peers at OTHS. Her classmates in AP English adore her. They listen carefully when she speaks, they laugh loudly when she jokes about being “too European” for certain things, and they treat her with the utmost respect.

At the beginning of this school year, Parvana had some difficulty with the college-level AP English essays – the language barrier being the biggest challenge. However, she takes advantage of every opportunity to improve by attending writing conferences, completing skills practice assigned during these conferences, and revising her essays for resubmission. On her most recent, timed, in-class essay, Parvana achieved an excellent score on the first draft – a clear indictor that she is willing to work as hard as it takes to reach her goals.

Parvana has been immersed in English for only about three years but has firmly entrenched herself among the best English students at OTHS. She is the epitome of what it takes for a person to truly succeed at whatever they set their mind to.

After graduating from OTHS, Parvana is interested in becoming a dentist.
